Do I need an Algerian phone number to open a Centeem account ?+
No. You can use your foreign phone number (with international format e.g. +33 6...) for SMS verification. Many countries' carriers support international SMS receipt while roaming in Algeria.
What if my visa is denied or expires while I'm in Algeria ?+
Your account stays usable until you withdraw all funds. You can request a full cash-out via partner agent or transfer back to your foreign card before leaving the country. No funds get stuck.
Can I keep money on Centeem after I leave Algeria ?+
Technically yes (the account stays active), but we recommend withdrawing everything before departure since you won't be able to spend DZD outside Algeria. We're working on cross-border partnerships for 2027.
What types of visa are accepted ?+
All Algerian visa types : tourist, business, family, work, student. The visa must be valid and clearly photographable. Diplomatic/official visas accepted with additional verification.
How safe is it compared to carrying cash ?+
Much safer. Cash that's stolen is gone forever ; a stolen phone with Centeem requires PIN + biometrics to use. You can freeze your account in 1 click from any other device (web dashboard).
